I love watching movies on my iPod Touch, I do; when I’m traveling by plane or bus or train, or as a passenger in a car when the conversation wanes. It’s a bit of a pain holding it at an angle conducive to optimum viewing, though. And the same rings true when I’m staying in a hotel with a less than stellar channel selection or in the guest room of someone’s house with no television in it – I need my visual entertainment without getting a crick in my wrist from holding my media device! Well, that’s where this little fella comes in.
No bigger than a candy bar, the iPod Video Projector from Hammacher Schlemmer can project up to a 60” video image or a nearby wall or ceiling, or any other such receptive surface, so I can watch my movies in the most comfortable position possible – supine. Preferably with a small bucket of well-buttered popcorn balanced precariously on my chest.
The pocket-sized projector doesn’t just work with the various iPods, however. It is also compatible with the iPhone or any other video source with composite outputs, such as video cameras, camcorders, and other video players with composite audio/video outs.
The functionality of this device doesn’t just cater to my own personal horizontal entertainment laziness, however. It can also project photos and other app content stored on your device – think of the business applications when impromptu presentations are required in remote locations with no access to the typical office setup. This could be particularly useful in combination with the iPhone’s video capture and still photography capabilities. (more…)
